2015 Small Ford Sunday

The Small Ford Sunday event in Melbourne provided plenty of variety once again. There were classic Fords on display ranging from Anglias and Zephyrs through to the Focus RS and latest Fiesta ST. There were plenty of cars that we had seen before but there were lots of others that could have been making their first appearance at SFS. The weather was also very different this year with grey skies and the occasional bit of light drizzle providing a very different experience to last year’s 40 degree scorcher.

Amongst the cars displayed by our members the Focus RS certainly had the numbers. They came from three different States courtesy of Chris Bryan and Neil McKinnon (ACT), Nathan Stevenson (NSW) and Dave Luff (Vic). Mk1 Escorts scored the covered display area this year and that’s where the RS2000s of Stewart Coleman and Stephen Roser could be found.

Russ Wise brought along his black Mk2 RS2000 after only recently getting it back on the road. Cossies were there in the form of Steve Riley’s Escort and Peter Cox’s Sapphire. Tristan Moser wasn’t able to display his Sierra RS but brought along his immaculate and unmolested Laser TX3 4WD instead.

Enthusiasts of old school Fords could see numerous models of the Cortina along with plenty of Capris, including one early Classic Capri. Escorts were well represented, as is often the case, but they varied from stock Mk1 1300 shopping cars to competition cars. Mk1 Twin Cams and Mk2 RS2000s gave the RS enthusiast plenty to admire. There was an impressive number of Escort Vans on hand and the show even included a solitary Mk4 Escort XR3i. The ongoing support for Small Ford Sunday by so many enthusiasts once again made this a very impressive event.
