Our local Ford dealer on the Sunny Coast puts on an annual show that draws over 3000 Ford fans from all over south east QLD. When I moved here from Sydney a few years ago I met the organiser of this event, Greg Manchester and introduced myself as a keen small Ford nut. Back then it was mainly V8 Falcons, hot rods, GT40′s etc and the odd Cortina on show. Greg mentioned he would like to attract more of the small fast Fords. So over the past few years we have had a growing attendance of RS’s, ST’s and even an XR4i this year. We even had a genuine imported RS2600 turn up for a look in 2011. Again this year we had the odd Mk 1 and 2 Escort in the car park across the road coming for a look.
Last year I got back into the RS scene as well after a 21 year drought of RS ownership and displayed my 3 door Sierra along with our other owners. This year saw the biggest turn out of Cossies at the show thanks to the boy’s from the Gold Coast and Brisbane heading north for the day. I would like to thank Jon and Lindsay, Jasen, Neil, Hadyn, Kevin, Graeme H and David for coming along. It was equally awesome to catch up with the boys for a chat and the visitors even found time to head off to the famous Mooloolaba Surf Club for a bite to eat. Also on the day they had a guest speaker, Chaz Mostert giving the crowd a talk on his racing experiences and cars revving out on the dyno all day as well. We would like to thank Pacific Ford for hosting the event and look forward to 2015.
