Not a huge RS event this time around due to the event clashing with the Noosa Hillclimb, but up here on the Sunshine Coast, any Ford Show close to home and I’m there. A sunny day ensured a good turnout and show organiser Greg Manchester was very happy with the huge crowd that showed up. It is getting bigger every year. Small Fords included a new Black Focus Sport, 1969 Capri GT, GT and Lotus Cortinas. One very rare Ford I have never seen before was a genuine Orange 1970 Ford Surferoo GS Ute. Only 5 were produced.
It pays to be wearing the club polo shirt and cap to all events as I was spotted by a fellow club member from Brisbane, Kevin Harrison who was also in club gear. Kevin dropped by for a look, however, he left his Mk 1 Mexico at home. Allan Moffat, Shane Van Gisbergen, Lee Holdsworth were amongst the guests. After being interviewed Moffat started his famous Mustang in the Ford Showroom and revved it a few times just to check no one was dozing off!
Next year the organisers would like to add some more small Fords. So next July, let’s see if we can get some Escorts, Capri’s, Sierra’s and Focus’s along.
Enjoy the photos.
