Tom Walkinshaw died on December 12th 2010 of cancer aged 64. The man behind the TWR Rover and Jaguar wins in the 1980’s.

 

In his younger days he raced many Ford Capri Mk1s in Britain and an Mk2 Boreham built Capri for the Spa 24hr back in 1974.

Pictured here back in 1975 outside the administration building at Boreham, leaning on a Capri Mk2 with flared arches and a rear spoiler which could have become the RS2800, five years before the 2.8 injection model appeared.

Tom Walkinshaw went on to become the European Touring Car Champion in 1984 and had great success at Bathurst in 1985 with a 1-3 win with the XJ-S Jaguars.
